A Woman Worth Celebrating

Today we celebrate the life of a wonderful woman...
a woman who has loved and supported her husband for 28 years
a woman who sacrificed so much to homeschool five children
a woman who always has a smile and listening ear
a woman who can make friends with anyone instantly (even the Vietnamense man giving her a pedicure!)
a woman who wakes up early to pray for her family and steep herself in the word of God
a woman who has a heart of gold
a woman who lives by faith
a woman who loves and gives of herself sacrificially every single day

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

She has always been there to hold me when I'm sick...

To talk for hours on the phone when I can't be with her in person...

To offer words of wisdom and encouragement and let me know that everything is going to be okay...

She is always ready with a smile and hug every morning when I drag myself out of bed with a scowl on my face and no desire to talk yet..

I LOVE you mom...thanks for all you do and everything you are. When people say I am turning into you, I take that as a compliment.

Tips for Nutritional Health!

This year I have had a bit of a crash course in nutritional health. I always thought I was a pretty healthy eater, but this year I have discovered much about health and the American diet that is very startling and frustrating. I am thankful for a mother who is highly interested in health and has done hours upon hours of research and passed along her findings to me. Our window sills are lined with wheat grass, and our fridge is full of raw goat milk kefir, and tons of raw vegetables. We drink a vegetable juice mixture every day that I call dinosaur pee, and we have been called health nuts, hippies, and a variety of other names recently. HOWEVER, I am thankful to be learning now how to make tasty nutritious meals, and how to shop and live in a way that honors and protects the body that God has entrusted to me.

Today I wanted to share some quick, easy, and extremely helpful tips with all of you...

Thousands of diets exist out there and everyone has their own idea of what is a healthy way to eat, and the truth is there really is not one perfect diet. Each person has a unique body and needs a different variety of foods in order to reach optimal health. Dr. Mercola is a highly respected doctor and nutritionalist who has created a test that can help yo
u discover what you should be eating and when you should be eating it in order to maintain GREAT health. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out here...

It will take about 10 minutes of your time and will be totally worth it. You can also subscribe to Dr. Mercola's free e-newsletter that is chock full of helpful hints, warnings, and information you won't hear in mainstream news. Sign up here http://www.mercola.com/

My brother would probably call me a health nazi right now and I try not to push my health concerns on others but I care about my friends and family and want to see you all healthy!

Here is a new tasty breakfast recipe I tried this morning with my newfound love...QUINOA. It is the healthiest grain out there and full of protein. Give it a try..

Profound Words From a Man Who Loved God

A.W. Tozer- a name familiar to anyone who has walked in Christian circles for very long. I am sure that I read some Tozer at some point during Bible college, but seeing as how my brain was totally overloaded at that time I don't remember any of his words really sticking out to me or sticking with me. This weekend I have been reading some of Tozer's well loved works. Won't you allow me to share with you some of my favorite quotes...

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."

"God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which he must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves."

"It is doubtful that God can use a man greatly until he hurts him deeply."

"The yearning to know what cannot be known, to comprehend the incomprehensible, to touch and taste the unapproachable, arises from the image of God in the nature of man. Deep calleth unto deep, and though polluted and landlocked by the mighty disaster theologians call the Fall, the soul senses it's origin and longs to return to it's source."

"The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven't yet come to the end of themselves. We're still trying to give orders, and interfering with God's work within us."

"O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need for further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, 'Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away with me. Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long"

I hope that gives you some food for thought today. Do you have any favorite Tozer quotes to share?

I'm Back!

Dear Friends,

Due to a problem with my old blog I have been unable to sign in or share my life and thoughts with you for several months now. I got frustrated trying to get back into my old blog so I just decided to start a new one. Since I am in a new phase of life anyway, it kind of makes sense.

Most of you know that I have had health issues that have kept me stuck at home for about six months now. It's been a long road without many answers, but there are some things you just can't learn when you are busy, and healthy, and happy. God has stopped me in my tracks, knocked me on my bum, and taught me how dependent I am on Him. Through many tears and days of sitting in bed I have gained a glimpse of God's heart-the things that are important to Him (most often not the things that are important to us). I pray that my heart will continue to become more tightly entwined with His and that I will see the world through His eyes.

I hope you will join me on this journey and find yourself encouraged, inspired, and more in love with Jesus...the author of this beautiful, tragic, intriguing, magical thing we call life!
